Mainly used in commercial applications, glue down carpet installation refers to carpet that is glued down directly on the floor. Beforehand, the floor is leveled so any imperfections do not telegraph through the carpet over time. With this form of installation, your carpet has very minimal movement potential, which will minimize buckling and prevent the seams from peaking.
Most popularly used in homes, tackstrip carpet is secured in place by strips of wood that are placed around the perimeter of the room. Underpad is secured in the middle of the room, up to the wood strips, and carpet is placed overtop. Carpet is then secured to the wood strips by small nails and is stretched tight across the room.
Carpet is cut to fit the size of the rooms but not directly attached to the floor by either glue or tackstrip and can be applied directly to the floor or over underpad. This form of installation is typically used in areas where the carpet needs to be moved on a regular basis.

Carpet Styles
Berber
Berber is typically identified by its short loops throughout and has a low profile for a clean, low-maintenance look. This style is durable, reliable, and ideal for high-traffic areas.
Frieze
Long fibers characterize a Frieze and due to this isn’t recommended for high traffic areas.
Saxony
The fibers of a Saxony are longer and twisted which gives it a heavier look. It has a super soft feel and is the industry’s most popular choice.
Multi-Level Loop
Loops vary in height throughout and give the carpet a patterned look. Another low profile style, it handles traffic wonderfully.
Textured
Textured carpet has a rougher surface due to uneven fiber lengths.
Plush
Plush carpet is a style of cut-pile carpet where each of the yarns in the pile is cut to precisely the same length. The yarns are packed very closely together, resulting in a smooth, almost velvety surface for a very soft, formal look.
Carpet Materials
Olefin
Its a polypropylene, olefin is a solution-dyed product with superior stain resistance. Olefins provide excellent value & good performance but should not be used for high traffic areas.
Nylon
Over 60% of carpet produced in North America is nylon. Manufactured primarily by DuPont, nylon is considered a premium fiber with excellent durability, stain resistance and value.
Wool
Wool is considered a premium fiber with exceptional resilience and durability but can be expensive for larger areas and requires extra special care to clean.
Triexta
Manufactured exclusively by Mohawk, Triexta offers permanent stain resistance and long-lasting durability. Their warranty covers all pet and spill accidents.
